Privacy
Sousie is a small recipe app run as a personal project. This page explains what it stores about you, why, and how to have it removed. Last updated 5 September 2026.
What Sousie stores
- Your email address — used to sign you in. Sousie signs you in with a one-time code sent to your email; there are no passwords.
- What you put in the book — the recipes, notes, edits, plans, shopping and freezer items, and photos you add. This is yours; Sousie just keeps it for you.
- Your household — which household you belong to, since a household shares one book.
- Basic technical data — the standard request logs any website keeps (e.g. IP address and device/browser info) and error diagnostics, used to keep the service running and to fix crashes.
Sousie does not show ads, does not sell your data, and does not track you across other sites.
How your recipes are read
When you import a recipe by link, pasted text, or photo, the content is processed to pull out the ingredients and steps — including by an AI model run by our hosting provider (Cloudflare Workers AI). It's used only to read that recipe into your book, not to train anything.
Who your data is shared with
With your household. Everyone in your household shares one book, plan, and freezer, so what you add is visible to them. Different households are kept entirely separate.
Only what you choose to publish. Sharing a recipe by public link, or publishing your book to a public address, is opt-in and under your control — nothing is public unless you make it so, and you can turn it off again.
With the services that run Sousie. A few providers process data on Sousie's behalf, only to make it work:
- Cloudflare — hosting, database, image storage, and the AI that reads imported recipes.
- Resend — sends your sign-in emails.
- Sentry — collects crash and error diagnostics so problems can be fixed.
Keeping and deleting your data
Sousie keeps your data for as long as your account is active. You can ask to see, correct, or delete your data — or close your account and have it removed — at any time. Just get in touch (below), or ask whoever invited you.
Note that recipes you added to a household you share stay with that household's book for the others at the table, unless they're removed too.
Security
Traffic to and from Sousie is encrypted (HTTPS), and your book is reachable only by you and your household. No system is perfect, but data is kept to what's needed and guarded accordingly.
Children
Sousie is a general-audience recipe app and isn't directed at children, and isn't intended for anyone under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live, if that's higher).
Changes
If these practices change, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
